Puberty is a tough time for everyone. There are many different changes that occur in both the male and female bodies and some even occur in both. With hormones out of whack and tons of physical (sometimes embarrassing) changes, the last thing pubescent males want to really think about is how large their breasts are getting. Unfortunately, this process is a fact of life and can become fairly pronounced in some boys.

Although it is a natural process and many young boys will undergo this change, there are still social ramifications for many young boys that go hand in hand with their breasts enlarging and, in some cases, becoming more sensitive. Nevertheless, the whole process only takes a few months to a year or so at most. Once this is done, the boy’s breasts should return to a normal size and should match the underlying musculature. However, if the problem persists, medical attention may be needed.

By going to a doctor, if the breast enlargement hasn’t minimized itself, there will be a chance to see if there are any abnormalities in the boy’s body. Because many of the hormones that help boys to become men are derivatives of those that help girls become women, there is a good chance that there could be a hormone imbalance or it may just be the boys natural body clock reducing the size later than what seems normal.
